Boredom

Boredom. Boredom. Boredom.

What do I do? I am not enjoying this, and geez, what am I supposed to do now? This is not the best.

Boredom, you are a Pain in the brain. Yes, unfortunately… But as they say, no pain no gain…

If I could sum it up into words, boredom feels like:

I mean, talk about the feeling of mild ( or not so mild) emotional discomfort….You know, degrees of things….

Try The Cat in the Hat.  I do not like you, boredom… I do not like you at all… I would not like you in the house. I would not like you with a mouse. I do not like you here or there. I would not like you anywhere. I would not like you in a box. I would not like you with a fox…

I guess I am treating boredom pretty badly now with all of this “I do not like you” stuff.

Yes, and to feel bad for an emotion is such a thing to experience. Boredom is such a thing to experience, and fortunately, it leads us to some of our more creative discoveries….

So they say: no pain, no gain. So, maybe I would like it with a fox, after all, foxes are so attractive and interesting…. Yes, then I would have an interesting story after all….unless it had rabies… 

So I might like boredom with a fox, yes I might like you after all….

 

I could write a rhyme…..

I was bored,

and felt absurd,

I sat to write

and use my light,

and not a fright

but oh,

look,

terrible…

delight!

Boredom can suck…

….. Yikes…. that does suck…..

We can make some noise too! Yes, and it’s a much better noise than mosquitoes… Sometimes, the tiniest things have the greatest power, like the word: love. The word is tiny, the feeling is not…

I love this idea. This show. This power. This door as it closes and I do something to help with my boredom…. blogging. Or were you thinking of something else you do behind closed doors?

How about awkward, and don’t say that? Yes, awkward. I just discovered a video, The Science of Awkward, and now I am past boredom. So, with this discovery, I can say, what if someone so awkward came into your life? How awful that would be, how autistic that would be, or, conversely, how funny that would be.

So Viola, it is an exciting world with all of its creativeness and boringness, and …and we are awkward people, unfortunately…

Don’t bite your nails about it though…

Oh well, so we can say Brilliant things may come out of your boredom if you try really hard or just plain think outside the box.

So, we have no choice but to console the self… maybe we can do something with this power, with the power of boredom after all, why wouldn’t we?
